Troubleshooting & Common Issues

A quick reference for the most common problems and how to fix them. If your issue isn't listed here, reach out at [email protected].

YOSA consistently generates em-dashes instead of en-dashes, or keeps making the same formatting mistake

This is a model behaviour you can reliably override with a custom instruction.

Fix: Go to your Project Settings and add a Custom Instruction specifying the correct behaviour - for example: "Use en-dashes, not em-dashes" or "Never use bullet points in the introduction."

Project-level instructions apply to every generation in that project automatically, so you only need to set it once.

Topic Research returns topics that are too broad or generic

That's expected for high-level keywords - the first pass is a starting point, not the final list.

Fix: Take the topics YOSA returned and run Topic Research on one or two of them. Each level down gets more specific and more actionable. A broad keyword like "SEO" will return pillar topics; running research on "technical SEO" will get you content-ready ideas.

YOSA can't retrieve content from my website

YOSA crawls your site to build the project Knowledge Base. If crawling fails, the Knowledge Base will be empty or out of date.

Most common cause: Your site is blocking YOSA's crawler - either via robots.txt, a firewall rule, or a bot protection layer.

Fix: Make sure YOSA's crawler isn't blocked. Check your robots.txt and any WAF or bot protection settings

If you've unblocked the crawler and the problem persists, contact us at [email protected].

A generation returned an error and I lost a generation limit

YOSA automatically restores limits used when a generation fails due to an error on our side.

Fix: Wait up to 24 hours - limits are restored automatically in the background. If your limit hasn't been returned after 24 hours, contact us at [email protected] and make sure to attach a URL to the failed generation. We'll sort it out manually.

Internal linking doesn't run automatically by default - it needs to be triggered.

Two options:

  1. Custom Instruction: Add an instruction at project or generation level, such as: "Where relevant, add internal links to related pages on the site." YOSA will use the Knowledge Base to find suitable pages.
  2. Post-generation via chat: After generating, open the article in Canvas and ask YOSA in chat: "Find and add internal links for this article." YOSA will suggest or insert relevant links from your site.

I edited my generated text, but I don't like the changes. Can I undo them?

Yes - Canvas keeps a full version history of every edit and rewrite.

How to restore a previous version:

  1. Open the article in Canvas.
  2. Click the generation details icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Open History.
  4. Browse the saved versions and click on the copy button the one you want to restore.
  5. Go back to your canvas and paste the content.
