You can add custom instructions at three levels:
- Project level - applies to every content generation in that project by default. Set these in your Project Settings. Note that this instruction is prefilled by Brand Voice when setting up your project.
- Per-generation level - the Instructions field in the generation form. Supplements project-level instructions for that specific piece.
In Bulk mode, instructions work on three levels simultaneously:
- Project level instructions apply to any generation and batch.
- The batch-level Instructions field applies to the whole job.
- Each row has its own Instructions column for piece-specific direction.
What to put in instructions:
Custom instructions may contain any preferences or instructions about content generation, for e.g.:
- Tone and style preferences ("Write in a conversational tone, avoid jargon"),
- Structural requirements ("Include a comparison table", "Add a FAQ section at the end"),
- Content constraints ("Do not mention competitor brand names"),
- Audience notes ("Written for beginners, no assumed technical knowledge"),
- Additional context (”This text author is John Doe, who is a senior financial specialist at Not So Real Band LTD, he specializes in (…)”).
